Philippine Environment Agency Develops Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Indicators. National and regional officials of the Philippines’ Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) met in Manila on October 17-18, 2006, to finalize proposed environmental compliance and enforcement (ECE) indicators. The indicators were developed after a training conducted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and organized by the Asian Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Network in June 2006. The ECE indicators measure the performance of EMB in implementing its key programs. Once adopted, the indicators will be used as tool for setting annual targets and budgets, and serve as a basis for evaluating the performance of the various units of the agency.
