Sharing best practices and strategies of effective environmental compliance and enforcement is at the heart of AECEN. With support from network partners and the AECEN Secretariat, network members engage in activities that strengthen legal and regulatory frameworks and human and institutional capacity for improved compliance and enforcement. Primary activities include:
AECEN Secretariat organizes regional workshops and networking events to share results and help create new partnerships.
The Secretariat organizes validation workshops to ensure that regional studies and assessments capture member capacity priorities. Here you can find summaries and download materials from the past workshops.
Twinning partners establish cooperative programs on a bilateral basis that define roles and responsibilities, expected outcomes, and resources, including partner cost-share.
While twinning partnerships have led to important advances on the ground at the country level, AECEN also works to promote replication of these best practices across the region.
The AECEN Secretariat and member countries organize a regional forum on environmental compliance and enforcement to collaborate and exchange knowledge and experience.
AECEN established the Asian Justices Forum on the Environment, a regional platform dedicated to facilitating cooperation and sharing innovative approaches between judges and courts on strengthening environmental adjudication in Asia.
The Award for Outstanding Service and Commitment by a Woman recognizes women who have demonstrated leadership, commitment and service, and have distinguished themselves by exemplary contributions.
AECEN maintains an environmental impact assessment (EIA) clearinghouse to facilitate knowledge capture and dissemination of information on international and regional best practices in EIA implementation.
