The workshop, organized by the India Ministry of Environment and Forests (MOEF) in collaboration with the United States Environmental protection Agency (EPA) will be held at the Environmental Protection and Training Institute in Hyderabad, India. The primary purpose of the workshop is to provide an orientation to senior environmental government officials on (1) the use of criminal, civil judicial and administrative enforcement authorities to improve compliance with environmental requirements; and (2) the use of self-monitoring, record-keeping and reporting to determine compliance and take enforcement actions. The discussions will focus on the tools and approaches used in the United States, but will reflect international practices.
