Launching of Twinning Partnership between Korea and Vietnam

Building on the understanding between the Vietnam Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) and Korea Ministry of Environment (KMOE), partners will work together to assist Vietnam improve its regulations related to contaminated soil monitoring to promote effective soil contamination management. Other than officially launching the twinning partnership, partners will discuss on details of implementation and share relevant experiences.

To launch a twinning partnership, experts from Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea, Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute (KEITI) and Korea Environment Corporation (K eco) will visit Hanoi and Da Nang during March 21-24, 2011 to attend the scoping mission.

Scoping Mission Objectives:

  • Launch a twinning partnership between Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea;
  • To discuss the work plan objectives, expected outputs, activities and roles and responsibilities of twinning partners;
  • Exchange views on legal and policy framework to promote effective soil contamination management and contaminated soil monitoring;
  • Identify objectives, scope, intent, and framework of the new regulation/guideline on contaminated soil monitoring;
  • Develop strategies for strengthening existing guideline on soil monitoring; and
  • Develop a draft agenda for an observational program to Korea to further exchange on contaminated soil monitoring.
