On December 13-15, 2007, the State Environmental Protection Administration of the People's Republic of China (SEPA), in partnership with AECEN, will convene the AECEN 2007 Regional Forum in Beijing, People's Republic of China at the Shangri-La Hotel. The theme of this year's forum is "Public Participation in Environmental Compliance and Enforcement in Asia." The objectives of this three-day event are to:
 













Share progress by SEPA and other stakeholders on environmental compliance and enforcement

Present progress on AECEN pilot projects, rapid country assessments and training activities, including Asian Justices Forum on the Environment and new "twinning" and awards initiatives

Conduct three parallel best practices workshops on citizen involvement, compliance assistance and public disclosure

Share best practices and experiences on environmental compliance and enforcement

Share final version of AECEN Regional Principles

 
Forum participants will include over 120 senior environmental officials, policymakers, judges, lawyers, academics, and other environmental experts from related government agencies and international organizations from a range of countries, including Cambodia, People's Republic of China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Lao PDR, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.
