New Delhi gets no respite from 'poor' air quality

NEW DELHI: The residents of the national capital continue to grapple with high level of particulate matters in air with pockets of the city recording "very unhealthy" level of pollution which holds out medical hazards for elderly and children.

While PM 2.5 (fine particulate matter than can penetrate deep into the lungs) was recorded at around 170, 2.5 times higher than the permissible limit of 60, the average of PM 10 was 280, 2.8 times higher than the prescribed limit of 100.
