IEE: Water Sector Investment Program - Tranche 2

The environmental management plans (EMP) for the six water supply subprojects that form the second Periodic Funding Request (PFR-2) of the Multi-tranche Financing Facility (MFF) for Support of the Water Sector in Viet Nam have been upgraded as part of the preparations of the subprojects. The original EMPs were developed with the initial environmental evaluations (IEE) or GoV EIAs that were prepared for each subproject. The IEEs and EIAs for the subprojects including the IEE for the Buon Ma Thuot City & Three Districts Water Supply Project are found under separate cover.

IEE: MFF Power Transmission Enhancement Investment Program

The proposed project is construction of a new 220 kV 125 km long Transmission Lines (TL) from UCHII to SIBI, in Balochistan province. This new 125 km long TL will be passing through total 3 districts. The condition of the power transmission system in Pakistan is inadequate to meet the rapidly growing demand for electrical power. This situation limits national development and economic growth. To enable the transmission system to deliver newly added generating capacity the existing network has to be expanded.

IEE: Vopur-Rupatola Road Section of Chainpur-Kanda Road Sub-project

The proposed 17.923 km long Vopur-Rupatola road section is the part of the Chainpur-Kanda Road (55km) in Bajhang district of Far-Western Development region. The road starts from Vopur bazar of Chainpur VDC (1.5 km east of Chainpur) and passes through Sunnikot VDC and ends at Rupatola in Dhamena VDC. The altitude of the road alignment ranges from 1350 meter at Vopur to 1700 meter at Rupatola. The road width is 5m while the total length of proposed road section for construction is 17.923 km up to Rupatola. The total project cost is NRs. 148,581,614.40 and per km cost is NRs.

EMP: Pakse Urban Environmental Improvement Project

This draft Environmental Management Plan (EMP) for the Riverbank Erosion Protection Subproject is part of the Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) Report for the Pakse Urban Environmental Improvement Project. The IEE was conducted during project preparation that started in the 4th Quarter of 2010. This draft EMP shall be finalized by the Project Management and Implementation Unit (PMIU) based on the detailed design, with technical assistance from the Environmental Specialist of the Project Management and Implementation Support (PMIS) Team.

IEE: Nabong 500kV Substation and Transmission Facility Project

The Government of Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) requested assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the development of the Nabong–Udon Thani Power Transmission Project for possible ADB financing. The project aims to deliver power from hydropower sources in Lao PDR through a transmission line and substation system in Nabong Village towards the Udon Thani border in Thailand.

Ministry of Railways (MoR), Govt. of India (GoI) has sought financial assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for a major rail up-gradation project involving doubling of 4 single rail sections and electrification of one existing railway line totalling 1500 kms along saturated corridors in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Chhatisgarh and Orissa.

IEE: Jammu and Kashmir Urban Sector Development Investment Program — Srinagar City Parking Subproject

Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) has undertaken Jammu and Kashmir Urban Sector Development Investment Program (JKUSDIP), financed by the ADB through Multi- Tranche Financing Facility (MFF). The total estimated cost of the program is about US $485 millions, out of which $300 million will be financed by ADB.

IEE: Rajasthan Renewable Energy Transmission Investment Program

ADB is proposing to extend a multi-tranche financing facility to the Government of Rajasthan under the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Transmission Investment Program. The project will support evacuation of power from Western Rajasthan including the facilities coming up at the 250 MW Phase 1 of the Bhadla solar park, Jodhpur district, Rajasthan for which Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation (RREC) is the nodal agency.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is proposing to finance the Shanxi Energy Efficiency and Environmental Improvement Project (the Project) in the People’s Republic of China (PRC). This report is the Project Initial Environmental Examination (IEE). It has been prepared under the ADB Project Preparatory Technical Assistance Project 7736: Shanxi Energy Efficiency and Environment Improvement Project (PPTA 7736), which undertook the technical, environmental, financial, social, and economic due diligence for the proposed Project.
