NHRC seeks reports from Environment ministry, Delhi govt on waste management

The three municipal corporations along with the MoEF and the Delhi chief secretary has been asked to submit their reports within the four-week period. The notices were issued after the NHRC took suo moto cognizance of a recent report in MAIL TODAY on the problem of overflowing garbage in Delhi.

Hanoi to build nine solid waste plants

The total area of the 17 plants were estimated to be built over more than 580 hectares.

It is the aim of the city's plan to treat solid waste in moving towards fulfilling the vision toward 2050, recently signed by Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai.

The new solid-waste treatment plants will be located in suburban areas, including Gia Lam District's Phu Dong Commune, Phu Xuyen District's Chau Can Commune, Thanh Oai District's Cao Duong Commune and My Duc District's My Thanh Commune.

NGT slams MoEF and state governments for neglecting solid waste disposal

National Green Tribunal (NGT) Bhopal bench has slammed Union ministry of environment and forests (MoEF), Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan governments for not implementing municipal solid waste (MSW) rules framed in 2000 and for also not furnishing satisfactory replies in this regard.

Green panel has asked for personal appearance of principal secretaries of urban administration department from the three states and deputy secretary and above ranked officer from MoEF dealing with MSW rules to explain their stand before May 8, the next date of hearing.
