Regional Forum on Environmental Compliance in Industrial Sector

1. Workshop Summary
On 24 – 25 September 2015, the Pollution Control Department Thailand (PCD) in partnership with the Environmental Research Institute of Chulalongkorn University (ERIC) and The Asian Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Network (AECEN) co-hosted the “Regional Forum on Environmental Compliance in the Industrial Sector” at Novotel Siam Square in Bangkok, Thailand. The forum brought together government officials from ASEAN countries to share environmental policies and best practices in the area of industrial pollution prevention and control. The recommendations from the forum will be submitted to the existing ASEAN Working Groups (for the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Environment) and the ASEAN Secretariat.
The objectives of the meeting were as follows:
Exchange information on policies, strategies, legislations and regulations related to industrial pollution control.
Exchange and share experiences and good practices or policy measures in relation to industrial pollution control, compliance promotion and enforcement.
Discuss the need to develop an ASEAN vision or strategy on industrial pollution management or on harmonisation of policies, strategies or legislations.
Enhance network of policy makers, regulators and researchers in the field of pollution prevention and control in the region.
